“What if?” — a state of disorientation, of inner resistance, of simultaneous acceptance and detachment, or even a kind of metaphysical bewilderment before a world turned machine. It is our final question before we cease to be the subject. Everything is coded. Everything is calculated. Everything seems to make sense… and yet, we still ask: What if? Sobinarism and this question: It is not irony aimed at AI — but a gaze turned back upon the human, who remains capable of asking even when everything is reduced to code. “What if?” is a comma, a pause, a void, a refusal, resistance — or even a challenge to the algorithm that explains everything but understands nothing.
